2016 Awards

Following the outstanding success of the launch in 2015 of the LAPF Investments Awards for local authority pension funds and their advisers, the 2016 LAPF Investments Awards, were held at The Savoy Hotel in London on the 1st September. Host for the evening, Mark Durden-Smith, was hugely entertaining and it’s fair to say that his slightly irreverent approach really helped make the evening special.

“We were all immensely proud to be recognised for our Fixed Income Strategy. I was pleased that LCPF’s thought leadership, backed up by concrete action, saw us stand out at the awards. Our focus exclusively on private debt and credit opportunities in the Fixed Income space is ground-breaking and fairly unique, which probably put us over the line in the face of some really strong competition. It’s a great team effort from all of those involved – as well as the investment team which implemented the strategy, hats off to our Investment Panel and Pension Fund Committee for having the confidence to back the strategy in the first place.”

“To be recognised for our unique approach to risk management is fantastic and is testament to a committee that really understand their responsibilities and are prepared to make bold decisions for the benefit of scheme employers. Our risk management strategy ensures that different groups of employers have access to an appropriate investment strategy, and that funding improvements can be captured by varying the exposure to growth assets. This has helped employers to lock in gains achieved through positive investment performance, reduced funding level volatility and helped to ensure that contribution rates are managed in a prudent way.”
